Country Crochet (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates countrycrochet.com, a website providing free crochet patterns, tutorials, and craft guides. Comments
When you leave a comment on this site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string, to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it, and, if approved, your comment’s profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.
Media
If you upload images to the site — for example, a photo of a finished project — please avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract any location data from images published on the site.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience, so you don’t have to re-enter this information when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content — for example, YouTube videos, Pinterest pins, or Instagram posts used to illustrate crochet techniques and patterns. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited that other website directly. These third-party websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics and tracking
We use Google Tag Manager to load analytics and measurement tools that help us understand how visitors use this site — for example, which patterns are most popular and how visitors navigate between pages. These tools may set cookies and collect information such as your approximate location, device and browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. This information is aggregated and used to improve our content; it is not used to personally identify you. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Affiliate links
Country Crochet is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. We may also participate in similar affiliate marketing programs with other yarn, craft, and pattern retailers.
When you click an affiliate link on this site, the retailer (such as Amazon) may set its own cookies or otherwise receive information about your visit in order to track the referral and, if you make a purchase, pay us a commission. We do not receive or store your payment information — that is handled entirely by the retailer. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party retailer before making a purchase.
This site does not currently display third-party banner or programmatic advertising. If that changes, we will update this policy to describe any additional advertising partners and the data they collect.
Who we share your data with
We share data with third-party services that help us operate the site and understand our audience, including Google (Tag Manager and Analytics) and our affiliate partners (for referral and commission tracking, e.g. Amazon Associates). If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments on this site, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (as those terms are defined under California law) for purposes such as cross-context behavioral advertising. Country Crochet does not sell personal information for money. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Data collected through Google Tag Manager and related Google tools is processed on Google’s servers, which may be located outside your country of residence.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised.
